Let your story in Jesus Christ share the gospel

“If someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way” (1 Peter 3:15-16).

One of the abilities we have been given is the ability to express ourselves in a variety of ways. Usually we have learned to express our feelings consistent with what we are trying to say in some way.

As believers in Christ, each of us has a story to tell, the story of how we met Jesus. When combined with our desire to tell others about Him, we have a powerful, versatile and meaningful way to connect others with the very heart of God.

Evangelism often includes telling our individual story along with the larger gospel story. No matter how “ordinary” yours may seem, we’ve all got a story to tell and you never know what it can mean to someone until you share it.

I believe that people everywhere are really hungry to hear what is happening in the lives of others. You can use your personal testimony as a tool to put the seed of questions in the minds of people who are really seeking answers for their lives.

Our Story is God’s story, and he is ready to use the stories we share with others to bring hope into someone else life. The Lord can use you to help others come to know Christ. Ask God for opportunities to share your story and the gospel with others.

For some people, witnessing is the hardest thing to do regarding the Christian faith, However when we ask God for the strength to do so, He empowers us.

Always remember, telling our story isn’t just about us, it’s about what we’ve found in Jesus Christ. Witnessing is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.

And what is that good news? It is that we can be forgiven; that we can stop looking over our shoulder and wondering if our past will ever catch up with us; that God wants to help us live in the way we were meant to live. That’s the good news we share.

Your story is unique and powerful! It is unique because it belongs to you alone and it’s powerful because it centers on the work of Christ in your life.

Your story can convey the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It can convey the benefits of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It can help to build rapport in your conversations and it can open the door to sharing the gospel.

People love stories, whether in movies, on television, or at the theatre. Everyone loves a story. Even little children endlessly say, “Tell me a story.” Do not minimize the power of sharing your personal testimony, regardless of how intellectually or theologically sophisticated you understand yourself to be! Don't be nervous or fearful of bringing in what Jesus has done for you personally.

Be open and vulnerable. Look for points of connection with people. Share with them the difference Jesus has made in your life.

Above all, remember that it’s God’s business to turn a person’s heart towards Christ. As 1 Corinthians 3:6 says, some plant, some water, but it is God who makes the seed grow.

Keep in mind, though, that most people will only give you a few minutes to get your point across. So you don’t ramble on and on, try focusing on the key points. Ask God to give you guidance as you share your story in Christ Jesus.
